American Hazelnut Corylus americana
Family: Betulaceae (Birch)
Branching: Alternate
This shrub is not nearly as common as Beaked Hazelnut, and its
buds are not as distinctive. But with the presence of catkins or
fruit, the identification should be fairly straightforward.
