White Spruce Picea glauca
Family: Pinaceae (Pine)
Branching: Evergreen

A common spruce in Canada, growing on more upland sites than Black Spruce.  However, there can be alot of variation and identification is not always easy.  White Spruce has hairless twigs (Black Spruce is hairy) and buds and smaller cones (half the size) than the similar Norway Spruce
